People storm into our lives. Often they leave just as quick. This project is about the love that remains when someone is gone. An X is about the mark they leave and the messages on our hearts for them. Lives change. People move on. Sometimes words, emotions, and the love we hold remain.
An X Project was inspired by this loss of relationships and the untold stories between two parties. Words left unsaid. Where do you send a letter that has no address? A poem that no one will read? A story that burns only in your heart?
I hope to give these stories a space to be read and processed deep out in the desert as the stars look down upon our complex hearts. Out there where others will happen upon them while they wrestle with their own untold stories. A reminder that it was real. They were here with us once and what we shared was life.
An X is not just art but a journey of three communities: writers, readers, and those lost to both. If you have a letter left unsent or a story on your heart, share it with me, and we can bring it to the playa together. Write with me!
Each story will be encapsulated in a standalone cube which will render it in light for years to come beyond its time at Burning Man. Each cube is one brick in the structure that will be built then deconstructed and given away to travel its own path beyond the playa.
